Ranking the Fastest Growing Economies. In 2017, 3 Sub Saharan African countries ranked in the top 10 among the fastest growing economies in the world. Economic growth in Africa has eased in recent times due mostly to declining commodity prices. A few years back, Africa was said to be rising, as commodity prices shot up and raised the hope for significantly increased prosperity across the continent. Even so, considering Africa as a whole, the top 3 fastest growing economies in the world are in Africa, with Libya leading the way.
