Ranking Environmental Friendliness People generally like to live in countries and communities that offer high economic gains. But that's not all that people value when looking for a place to live for their families. Another very key matter in how livable a community or country is, is a good environment. To measure environmental friendliness, the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy and Columbia University's Center for International Earth Science Information Network in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission have developed something called the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) to quantify and numerically mark the environmental performance of national policies.
